Fortune Magazine’s Nino Paoli spoke with Greenhouse Software CEO Daniel Chait about an "AI doom loop" in the hiring process, where job seekers are leveraging AI tools to apply to thousands of jobs a day and using tactics to bypass potentially-biased AI filters, while overwhelmed employers are responding with increased use of AI that is rapidly de-humanizing the hiring process.
Three in four U.S. job seekers use AI to polish their applications, but AI use is actually having an opposite effect, Chait said: “Instead of making candidates stand out by using the job description as a roadmap for application materials, AI tools end up spitting out similar-sounding cover letters and resumes. You end up basically not being able to tell anyone apart.”
